The short version. Tefro keeps your shop's records on your phone and backs them up to a private cloud account. We use them to run the app. There are no ads, we don't sell your data, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers.
Who we are
Tefro is run by Agbaje Abdullateef, an individual based in Nigeria ("we"). If you have a privacy question or request, email [email protected].
This policy covers the Tefro app and this website. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Two kinds of information
Your account and how you use Tefro. We decide how this is used, and we're responsible for it.
What a shop records about its customers and staff. The shop decides what to record and why, and we store it on the shop's behalf. If you're a customer or staff member of a shop that uses Tefro, ask the shop first. If the shop can't help, contact us.
What we collect
| Information | What it includes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in account | Your email address, and a password stored only in scrambled form. With Google sign-in: your email address, name and profile picture as Google shares them. | To link your phones to your shop and let you back in. |
| Shop details | Shop and branch names, phone numbers, addresses, currency, VAT settings and receipt wording. | To run the shop and print receipts. |
| Staff | Names, phone numbers, roles, permissions, and a scrambled form of each PIN. The PIN itself stays on the phone and never reaches us. | To control who can do what, and show who did it. |
| Customers | Names, phone numbers, credit limits, notes the shop adds, and what they bought or owe. | To keep the shop's credit ledger and send reminders. |
| Business records | Products and their photos, barcodes, prices, sales, payments, stock changes, end-of-day counts and an activity log. | To run the shop and keep its phones in step. |
| Phone details | A phone name you can see in the app, its type, when it last synced and the receipt numbers it uses. | To sync safely and stop two phones printing the same receipt number. |
| Crash reports | The error message and technical details, app version, time, and which shop, phone and account it happened on. | To find and fix problems. |
Records stay on the phone until it's linked to a cloud account. After that, they sync to the shop's account.
What the app asks to use on your phone
- Camera: to scan barcodes and take product photos.
- Photos: only the picture you choose for a product.
- Bluetooth: to connect to a receipt printer.
- Notifications: for alerts such as low stock.
Receipts and reminders you send on WhatsApp or by SMS go through those apps from your own phone. They have their own privacy policies.
Why we're allowed to use it
- To provide the service you asked for: your account, sync and backup.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping Tefro secure and fixing crashes.
- Legal duties: if a law or valid order requires it.
- Your consent: phone permissions, which you can turn off in your phone's settings.
Who handles it for us
We share information only with the providers that help run Tefro, for that purpose:
- Supabase: stores the database, sign-in accounts and product photos.
- GitHub: stores our encrypted database backups.
- Google: Google sign-in, and sending password reset emails.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and our email address.
Some of these providers process data outside Nigeria. We may also share information if the law requires it, or with a new owner if Tefro is transferred, and we'd tell you first.
How long we keep it
- Account and shop records: while the account is open.
- After you ask us to delete your account: we delete it within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep something. See how to delete your account.
- Backups: each backup is deleted after 30 days.
- Crash reports: we aim to delete these after 90 days.
Records on a phone stay there until the app is removed. Removing the app doesn't delete your cloud account.
How we protect it
Data travels over encrypted connections. Each shop's cloud records are walled off from other shops, phones can only reach their own shop, and backups are encrypted. Keep your phone locked and your PINs private. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it. You can also withdraw consent or ask for your data in a portable form. Email [email protected] and we'll reply within 30 days.
You can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at any time.
This website
This site has no analytics, ads or tracking cookies. Cloudflare, which hosts it, may process technical details like your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply.
Children
Tefro is for people running or working in a business. It isn't meant for children under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
